four tartans

One day, a person came to ask me to make him a kilt with the four tartans of his clan!

For the apron (the flat, non-pleated part at the front of the kilt), the matter was, after all, quite simple: the four tartans were mounted in yokes in a Scottish cross of Saint Andrew (Saltire). Now, for the pleats, on the back of the kilt, I didn’t just want to put four blocks of tartan. So I had fun mounting them in progression, alternately; which represents hours of cutting and sewing strips of tartan which follow one another while intercalating.

I am not unhappy with the result.
