The Kingussie Pleat consists of a central round pleat and flat pleats spreading on either side.

It is an old, historical pleating, of which only three artifacts of kilts thus pleated have been found around the world. The first one was discovered in Scotland, in the town of Kingussie, which gave its name to it. I had the joy of being interviewed by the Tartan Herald for an article concerning this specific pleating. (see article below) This magazine specializing in everything related to tartan found it strange that I, a French seamstress, felt attraction for the Kingussie pleating.

But Kingussie pleating is actually quite fascinating! Apart from its indisputable historicity, my redesigned version for today’s man makes it a resolutely modern pleating.

Kingussie in summary

One of the main qualities of Kingussie pleating is that it does not crease easily and is therefore ideal for trips where you have to remain seated for a given period of time.

Its flat pleats fanning out on either side of the central round pleat give it an air of Knife pleated kilt, which can be reassuring: A historical pleating, therefore eminently respectable, while remaining original, but also practical for going out and about traveling by car, train, etc. and having at first glance the appearance of a Knife pleated kilt Knife pleated kilt.

My desire to own the Harley Davidson tartan led me, by chance, to the site of a Kiltmaker, French moreover: Lady Chrystel. The latter, strongly interested in the challenge, brought in her wake her husband, Robert Amyot, who, thanks to his perfect command of English, was able and knew how to lead the negotiations and together, managed to weave the tartan so longed for !

Regularly wearing the kilt, it was only natural that I ordered the Aubigny-sur-Nère tartan and the Franc-Comtois tartan. My desire to get out of the conventional folding led me to order the three kilts with different foldings: Box (Aubigny-sur-Nère), Kingussie (Heritage Sequane tartan Franc-Comtois) and Double Box (Harley Davidson).

And it was personally that I made the trip to Haute-Savoie to pick up my order. The welcome was very warm, and the day passed in a friendly atmosphere.

Today, it is with great impatience that I am waiting for my fourth kilt, Military Rolled folding in Norwegian Night tartan.

I wanted to express my warmest thanks and show all my admiration for this magnificent work carried out by Lady Chrystel, underlining in this respect that it is very appreciable to be kept regularly informed of the evolution of the manufacture of the clothes ordered.
